What began as a mischievous fan challenge for Helldivers 2 developers to play on the highest difficulty in exchange for a $1,000 charity donation has become a quagmire, prompting responses from both Arrowhead and Sony. In a joint statement posted on official Helldivers 2 social channels on March 5, the companies said they are tracking the situation around the Dev D10 challenge that started on Reddit.

The original post, labeled "A SERIOUS OFFER," promised $1,000 to Arrowhead's preferred charity for a video of four developers playing an entire operation on Oshaune at difficulty 10. Another user assigned specific loadouts to staff, including CEO Shams Jorjani, for an extra $1,000, and Jorjani has been flirting with the idea of accepting the wagers.
