Sony to Close Bluepoint Games in March
Bluepoint Games, the PlayStation studio behind remakes such as Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus, will close in March. The move comes five years after the studio released its last project, a PlayStation 5 launch exclusive, and after serving as a support studio on 2022’s God of War Ragnarök.
“Following a recent business review, the decision was made to close Bluepoint Games in March,” a Sony spokesperson wrote. “Bluepoint Games is an incredibly talented team and their technical expertise has delivered exceptional experiences for the PlayStation community.
We thank them for their passion, creativity, and craftmanship.” The Texas-based studio was acquired by Sony in 2021 and had been working on a live-service project that was canceled early in 2025. Fans had hoped Bluepoint would revive other PlayStation classics, including Bloodborne, and many found the live-service direction baffling amid Sony’s unsuccessful push to build internal online multiplayer hits.
