Sony quietly updated a blog post from August 22, 2023 celebrating the release of PSVR2 shooter Firewall Ultra, adding a notice that online features will be terminated on September 17, 2026 at 10:00am PDT (GMT -7). As you must be online to play this title, the update says the game will no longer be playable after that time. The change was spotted by Delisted Games.

The company has already removed Firewall Ultra from the PlayStation Store, and the studio behind the game, First Contact Entertainment, was dissolved in late 2023. The post Sony updated had originally outlined the game's launch and post-launch roadmap; an embedded video in the blog appears to have been removed from YouTube.

Firewall Ultra launched in August 2023 on PS5 exclusively for PSVR2 as a sequel to the original Firewall for the OG PSVR, which had been one of that headset's biggest hits. The sequel didn't fare well with fans or critics and is now going away forever.

Meanwhile, the original Firewall remains available.
