Development and fabrication of flight-qualified instruments include mass spectrometers, spectrometers, and precision welding services.

Precision engineering services include electron beam welding, which performs high-precision electron beam and automated orbital TIG welding to support the fabrication of mass spectrometer housings, miniature components, and plumbing lines.

The Planetary Environments Laboratory designs, builds, and operates spaceflight mass spectrometers to measure neutral and ion species.

Spaceflight visible-infrared spectrometers use linear variable filter-based designs for remote spectral characterization of planetary surfaces and atmospheres. Instruments can be configured as imaging or point spectrometers depending on application and spatial resolution needs.
