Goal says Spain reclaimed the top spot in its World Cup 2026 power rankings after the group-stage draw in Washington DC, with Switzerland and the United States rising in the standings while England and France fell.

Fourteen more countries sealed qualification during the November international break, producing several notable stories: Haiti return to the finals for only a second time, 52 years after their debut; Curacao became the smallest nation ever to qualify; Jordan, Uzbekistan and Cape Verde secured historic first-time appearances; and New Zealand qualified following FIFA's decision to grant Oceania a guaranteed spot.

There are still six slots to be filled via the play-offs next March, and the draw has given a clearer picture of which teams could challenge for the trophy at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19 and when the tournament opens in Mexico City on June 11.
