Spider-Man Characters Sony Could Build a Reboot Around

Sony’s earlier attempts to spin out a Spider-Man shared universe — from the Venom trilogy to Morbius, Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter — were widely seen as missteps. Still, studio leadership has signaled they’re not finished and plan to try again, this time focusing on Spider-Man’s supporting cast rather than Peter Parker himself.

One clear option is Spider-Girl. A film about May Parker, whether set in a future era or framed as the legacy daughter of Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker and Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane, could give Sony its own generational take on the character and introduce female variations on classic villains.

Other viable leads include Solo, a mid-budget action project built around a counter-terrorism operative; Slingers, a comic superhero ensemble about four college students fumbling into heroism; and Wraith, the Yuri Watanabe story that could be positioned as a darker, R-rated vigilante thriller.
