Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 2: Production Wrapped, Likely Early 2027
Paramount announced in late 2024 that Starfleet Academy Season 2 was happening, and production wrapped while Season 1 was still airing. The new season will again comprise ten episodes. It remains unclear whether a third season will follow, and the completion of Season 2 marks the first time in around a decade that no new Star Trek shows are currently in production.
Season 1 finished filming in early 2025 and premiered roughly a year later, and the heavy use of CGI and other effects means post-production takes considerable time. Given that schedule, Season 2 would make sense to arrive in early 2027, and it is likely to follow the same weekly release pattern that kept Season 1 in the public eye after a double-episode premiere.
Narratively, Season 2 is expected to continue with the cadets returning for their second year at the Academy. Paul Giamatti's Nus Braka was captured in the finale and will not return, though producer Alex Kurtzman has suggested Braka could reappear if a third season happens.
