Star Trek: Starfleet Academy renewed — Season 2 teases Nahla's past and new aliens

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy closed its first season with a finale that resolves the show's central conflict: Caleb finds resolution with his mother Anisha and, alongside Captain Nahla, brings down Nus Braka. The cadets step into aspirational roles as the bridge crew of the Athena, and the series has already been renewed for Season 2 with filming wrapped so viewers won't have to wait long to return to class.

Co-showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau confirmed that Anisha and Nus will not appear in Season 2 even though their storylines are not complete, and they said they would love to bring them back. Landau also warned that the cadets’ bridge assignments in the finale are not necessarily where they will land beyond the academy.

Season 2 will explore Nahla’s backstory, introduce a new alien species, and feature several surprise guest stars and unexpected pairings among the cadets.
