Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord official trailer unveiled

Disney+ has unveiled the official trailer for Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord, which premieres its first two episodes on Apr. 6. The animated series, set after The Clone Wars, follows former Sith Lord Darth Maul as he works to control the criminal underworld while the Empire hunts him down.

Sam Witwer returns as Maul, marking the character's first time as a protagonist in his own Star Wars project. Created by Dave Filoni, the show features a cast that includes Gideon Adlon, Wagner Moura, Richard Ayoade, Dennis Haysbert and Vanessa Marshall. Shadow Lord finds Maul plotting to rebuild his syndicate on Janix, a planet with a city untouched by the Empire where he crosses paths with a disillusioned young Jedi Padawan who may become an apprentice.

Maul will be surrounded by an entirely new cast of characters, local law enforcement and Imperial Inquisitors. Executive producer Matt Michnovetz described Janix as part Gotham, part Metropolis — a layered city built into a crater with a functioning democracy and a rich environment for crime.
