Stardew Valley‘s Unexpected 1.7 Update Sounds Even Bigger Than We Thought
Stardew Valley is approaching its tenth anniversary, and developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone revealed details about a forthcoming 1.7 update in an interview with IGN. He said the update will add two more marriage candidates, which will be unveiled on the game's tenth anniversary on February 26.
Barone also discussed changes to children in the game and floated features such as a farm map editor that would let players build their own maps. He suggested a social feature to share map designs and said, "I’m interested in ways to make the game more just infinitely replayable without the use of AI.
That’s never going to happen." He has been teasing 1.7 since September and previously hinted at "new character/social stuff" and a new farm type. Barone said he had considered a Stardew Valley 2 and even began work on a sequel at one point, though that effort was seemingly abandoned.
