Steam lets Early Access devs display planned 1.0 release dates
Steam now lets Early Access developers show a planned 1.0 release window on their store pages, with options ranging from a vague year-only timeframe to an exact day and date.
Valve says developers can share a specific calendar date or a more vague timeframe if they wish, and reminds teams that building and maintaining trust with their community is an important part of Early Access. There is no pressure to establish a 1.0 release time far in advance.
The feature makes it easier to share launch plans, but Valve adds that developers probably shouldn't feel obliged to use it. That seems wise, though it may not be long before controversy arises if an Early Access game misses a date posted on its page.
