Steven Yeun Still Open to Returning to the MCU
Steven Yeun says he remains open to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe after withdrawing from Thunderbolts due to scheduling conflicts. "I did. I love Jake, Jake Schreier, incredible human director. I did [see it] and I never say never. I'm around," he said.
Yeun was cast in 2023, but the writers' and actors' strikes delayed production; when filming moved forward it no longer fit his schedule and Lewis Pullman ultimately took the Sentry role, aka "Bob." The split appears amicable, leaving the door open for future collaborations.
Marvel sometimes withholds character details when announcing casting, which fueled speculation about Yeun's part. Thunderbolts leaned into an A24-like tone and enlisted Jake Schreier, a filmmaker known for independent work, to direct. Meanwhile, Yeun continues to voice Mark on Invincible.
