Street Fighter Pro Detained By ICE Is Coming Home
Just under a month after his detention by ICE, Street Fighter player Ludovic Mbock was granted a low bond following a hearing today, his friends and family posted on his GoFundMe fundraiser page.
The post said he will be heading home soon to Maryland and will return for a follow-up hearing in May. The team described themselves as optimistic, noting the outpouring of support and a judge who appeared moved by the people who attended; they reported about 20 people in the courtroom and more than 20 supporting online.
Supportive messages quickly appeared across social media, including X and Bluesky. Mbock’s GoFundMe has served as a hub for updates and has raised over $102,000 to help with legal fees and representation. Best known in the Street Fighter community as a pro Chun-Li player, he prompted many players to share stories of his impact and to help crowdsourcing efforts.
