Nytimes reports that Lynsey Walker, 42, was wearing a faux fur coat that had originally belonged to her grandmother. She and her boyfriend, Adam Rowlatt, 62, had just finished lunch at Bone Daddies, a ramen shop in London, when our paths crossed on a Saturday in early January.

His coat was made of real fur and was old as well — from “the ’60s or, more likely, the ’70s,” he said, adding that he first took an interest in vintage clothing as a teenager.

The two seemed right at home in their attire, which also included elegant hats and distinctly shaped trousers. They live in Bedfordshire and both work in construction, which is how they met roughly seven years ago.

He said, “I’m known for dressing a bit snappier than anyone else in the office.” She said she prefers “boring, black office clothes,” adding, “I can’t be bothered.” Simbarashe Cha is a Times photographer and visual columnist documenting style and fashion around the world.
