Payments firm Strike received a virtual currency license and a money transmitter license from the New York State Department of Financial Services, authorizing it to offer Bitcoin services to New York residents and businesses. The approvals, granted in February, authorize Zap Solutions, Inc., which does business as Strike, to operate under New York’s digital asset regulatory framework.

New York users can now buy and sell Bitcoin (BTC), set recurring or price-targeted purchases, convert direct-deposited paychecks into Bitcoin, pay bills from Bitcoin balances and withdraw funds to self-custody wallets. Zap Solutions, Inc. appears on the regulator's list of licensed entities.

Founder and CEO Jack Mallers called the BitLicense "a defining milestone for Strike," saying the approval enables expansion of its Bitcoin-based financial services in a major financial market.
