Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition received a visual overhaul and new campaigns last year and earned a 'Very Positive' rating on Steam. The Winter Update brings further content and improvements to the castle-building RTS. The headline addition is Steam Workshop support, enabled by a new tool called The Castle and CPU Lord editor.

That editor lets players create custom castles to besiege and CPU lords to pit against, while a second tool allows creation and editing of custom trails—strings of skirmish missions that sit alongside the main campaigns and let you tweak lord and castle configurations.

Players who prefer jumping into battles get ten new maps, including one split into four sections by water channels that forces long-range siege fights before ground assaults, and a coastal free-build map for construction on cracked flatlands or rugged cliffsides.
