Subnautica 2 set for early access in May as Krafton yields
One day after Unknown Worlds' leadership was restored, Krafton said Subnautica 2 will enter early access in May.
The release target appeared in a statement shared with IGN that also suggests Krafton will not challenge the order restoring former Unknown Worlds CEO Ted Gill to the role.
Current Unknown Worlds chief Steve Papoutsis wrote, "We want to take a moment to sincerely thank every member of the Unknown Worlds team and our partners. Over the past nine months, you have worked incredibly hard to bring Subnautica 2 close to the finish line. That effort has resulted in a game we are truly proud of, one that each of us and our partners at Krafton unanimously determined is ready for Early Access release in May."
The wording implies Krafton had been vindicated while crediting developers for finishing the game, but Gill, co-founder Max McGuire, and designer-director Charlie Cleveland had been ready to pop the cork on the game in 2025, so the move could also be read as a bit of face-saving.
