Unknown Worlds and publisher Krafton say Subnautica 2 will enter Early Access in May, though no specific date has been set. IGN reported the window Tuesday evening, and the studio’s leaders say the game is ready for players. Unknown Worlds head Steve Papoutsis wrote that the studio and publisher have "unanimously determined [Subnautica 2] is ready" to see the world.

The wording echoes ousted director Charlie Cleveland, who last July said the studio knew "the game is ready for early access release and we know you’re ready to play it" as the dispute began. On March 16, a judge ordered Krafton to rehire Unknown Worlds CEO Ted Gill and barred the company from obstructing his "authority over the early access launch of Subnautica 2" as he returns.

Papoutsis said the team looks forward to working with Gill to support a smooth transition and noted new story chapters, creatures and biomes have been added to prepare the game for Early Access.
