Switch 2 Edition and Update 3.0 add hotel, Slumber Islands to Animal Crossing
Gamesradar reports that Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and Update 3.0 introduce several new features and modes that have drawn the writer back into the game.
Highlights include a Resort Hotel mode run by the Kapp'n family that asks players to decorate themed rooms for visiting villagers, and Slumber Islands, a dream-island sandbox where friends can customise weather and place structures together. The Switch 2 Edition brings crisper visuals and faster load times, support for up to 12 players in multiplayer, and mouse controls via the Joy-con 2 controllers for finer custom-design work. The update also adds crossovers — retro games playable on console furniture, The Legend of Zelda outfits and gear, Lego items, and Amiibo-unlocked villagers Cece and Viché inspired by Splatoon 3 — alongside some writer reservations about directly using Zelda characters Mineru and Tulin.
The Switch 2 Edition carries a small upgrade fee, and the author says the additions are numerous even after only a couple of days exploring. The writer also expressed surprise that Nintendo apparently have not charged for the Resort Hotel, and noted they would have liked to see improved framerates despite being pleased with the overall balance of the visual upgrades.
