Take-Two Interactive said during its latest quarterly earnings call that it was pausing development of the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Borderlands 4, halting the planned release for that platform. Borderlands 4 launched on PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X on Sept.

12, 2025, and a Switch 2 release had been scheduled for Oct. 4, 2025. October passed without a Switch 2 release and the entry was removed from Take-Two’s chart of upcoming games, listed as TBA; the game page on the official 2K store remains but pre-orders have been disabled.

A Take-Two spokesperson, Alan Lewis, confirmed the decision to Variety, saying the company had 'made the difficult decision to pause development on that SKU' and that its focus remains on post-launch content, optimization and ongoing collaboration with Nintendo, while other Switch 2 titles from the publisher remain planned.
