Talha & Jack Co's Abide is an extreme stop-motion horror
Indie duo Talha Kaya and Jack King-Spooner are making Abide, an unnerving horror‑mystery set at the St. Boniface retreat for mentally unwell patients. The developers describe the location as situated in the secluded and idyllic countryside, and warn that there are 'gruesome mysteries' to uncover.
Play splits across a day–night cycle: daytime involves social interactions, chores and investigations, while nights turn into run‑and‑hide horror sequences reminiscent of the Amnesia series. One of the house rules is that you mustn't leave your room at night, so the player's goal becomes to sneak, spy, survive and access places that are locked during the day.
Visually, Abide leans on the pair's signature handcrafted clay sculptures, made by King‑Spooner and digitized into 3D models — a first for the team after previously using 2D sprites in 3D environments similar to the original Doom.
