Filming on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has been paused after cast member Taylor Frankie Paul became the subject of an investigation into alleged domestic violence involving her ex, Dakota Mortensen. The Draper City Police Department said "allegations have been made in both directions" and that "contact was made with involved parties on [Feb.] 24th and 25th." No further details about the incident were released.

The couple dated on and off between 2022 and 2024 and share a 1-year-old son, Ever. In 2023 they briefly split after an incident in which Paul was accused of throwing a chair that struck Mortensen's daughter; Paul was arrested and faced misdemeanor counts of assault, criminal mischief and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child.

Paul, who has a daughter, Indy, 8, and a son, Ocean, 5, from previous relationships, told listeners of the "Call Her Daddy" podcast in September 2025 that the charges "were all dropped." The pair reconciled in 2023 but separated again the following year.
