Taylor Sheridan-produced Finestkind returns to Paramount+ top 10 despite 28% RT score
Collider reports that Finestkind, a neo-Western thriller produced by Taylor Sheridan, has resurfaced as a streaming success on Paramount+ as of Feb. 1, 2026.
The film stars Tommy Lee Jones, Jenna Ortega and Ismael Cruz Cordova and follows a crew of fishermen who run into danger when their debts pile up. Finestkind was directed by Brian Helgeland, released Dec. 15, 2023, and has a runtime of 126 minutes.
Finestkind is streaming exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and globally, and Collider says it has returned to the top 10 in several countries, including Italy and Australia, giving Paramount an ongoing streaming hit.
Critics and audiences originally panned the film, with Rotten Tomatoes scores of 28% from critics and 59% from audiences. The movie was released straight to streaming a few years ago and therefore did not generate box office receipts.
Collider notes the project had earlier attached Jake Gyllenhaal and Zendaya before they dropped out, with Ben Foster and Jenna Ortega later taking roles. Finestkind is Sheridan’s most recent producing credit; he made his feature writing debut on Sicario (2015) and also wrote Wind River and Hell or High Water. Sheridan will return to features with F.A.S.T., due in theaters April 23, 2027, and is also writing a Call of Duty movie for Paramount with Peter Berg attached to direct.
