Teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie appears to confirm Pikmin cameo

A new teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie featuring all of the film's characters has been released, and it includes a brief glimpse of a trio of Pikmin.

Those Pikmin have never had a meaningful crossover with the Super Mario franchise aside from the odd Easter egg or unlockable feature, so their appearance would mark a first.

The film takes place in the dreamy outer space scenery from Super Mario Galaxy, and the clip raises the possibility that the movie may visit the Pikmin planet for a bit.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie stars Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Benny Safdie, Kevin Michael Richardson, Luis Guzman, Issa Rae, Donald Glover, and Brie Larson. It is written by Matthew Fogel and directed by returning filmmakers Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 1.
