Last August the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles returned to theaters for its 35th anniversary in a rerelease from Fathom and Saga Arts. Strong presales extended the event beyond the planned two days, and after the film earned a surprising $3.3 million the run was extended again; Fathom then announced the sequel would get a similar release.

Now 1991’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze is back in theaters, and 35 years on it still feels like the most fun to be had with the Turtles on film, especially for those who grew up in late ’80s and early ’90s Turtle-Mania. The sequel picks up soon after the Turtles defeat the Shredder in the first film.

With their sewer home discovered by the Foot Clan, the brothers crash at April O’Neil’s (Paige Turco) apartment until they find a new lair in an old abandoned subway station. The Shredder (François Chau) is not truly gone, though; he rebuilds the Foot and creates two monstrous mutants to get revenge.
