Tessa Thompson headlines Netflix thriller His & Hers after Hedda acclaim
Collider: Tessa Thompson is starring in Netflix’s miniseries His & Hers while also riding acclaim for her Golden Globe–nominated performance in Hedda, which premiered at TIFF in early September.
His & Hers is a screen adaptation of Alice Feeney’s 2020 psychological-thriller novel. Thompson plays journalist Anna Andrews, who returns to her hometown of Dahlonega, Georgia, to investigate a murder that her estranged husband, Detective Jack Harper (Jon Bernthal), is also probing. The series has been described as Sharp Objects meets Under the Bridge with a dash of Mean Girls. Thompson said joining was "an instant yes," worked closely with writer-director William Oldroyd to shape tone and music, and counted Jessica Chastain’s Freckle Films as an early executive-producer supporter; Hedda holds a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes and earned Thompson a Golden Globe nomination and spots on several "Best of 2025" lists, with speculation that the momentum could lead to an Oscar bid.
Thompson is promoting His & Hers while continuing an FYC campaign for Hedda. The production filmed in Georgia for authenticity, and Thompson served as a producer who helped select key tracks and collaborate on casting adult and younger versions of characters. The series' finale includes an action-heavy sequence with stunt work shot over a handful of intense days, and Thompson has said she hopes to work on-screen with Chastain in the future.
