Teyana Taylor hosts SNL, references My Super Sweet 16 and Oscar nomination
Nbc reported that actress and singer Teyana Taylor made her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live's January 24 episode, opening with a monologue that referenced her My Super Sweet 16 appearance and a recent Oscar nomination for One Battle After Another.
Taylor told the audience, "I was nominated for an Oscar for One Battle After Another. It is a dream come true," and added that she "found out the way every little girl wants to find out — getting fitted for a bald cap next to Mikey Day." She also joked about being "currently in culinary school, cheffin' it up," said she had "randomly won Masked Singer, dressed as a firefly," and quipped that she considers herself a "Glade Plugin." Dressed in a glittering "I Love New York" shirt and bright-red fur, she acknowledged, "Now, I'm a Harlem girl and I love New York, but it's freezing out here."
The episode featured the return of Mike Myers as Elon Musk in the cold open and a parody commercial for a Perfidia Beverly Hills action figure. Other sketches in the January 24 broadcast included "NFL on ESPN," "Gate Agents," "Toy Commercial," "Grandpa at the Wedding," "Confidence Class," "Beyond the Headlines," "Backstab Island" and "Blowing It."
