'The AI Doc' producer Daniel Kwan on AI's future and threat
Daniel Kwan says the time to be on the fence about artificial intelligence is over. He is co-writer and co-director of Everything Everywhere All at Once, a founding member of the Creators Coalition on AI, and a producer of the documentary The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist.
While at SXSW, Kwan and filmmakers including co-director Charlie Tyrell and producer Ted Tremper visited the Say More studio to explain the film's approach. They aim to counter the notion that everyday people have no say as major CEOs make consequential decisions about AI.
Director Daniel Roher interviewed OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Google DeepMind CEO and co-founder Demis Hassabis, and Anthropic CEO and co-founder Dario Amodei, along with many experts and engineers, to present both sides of the debate. The film also keeps a human thread by exploring how Roher's anxieties about becoming a first-time parent shape his emotional response.
