The Boys returns for its fifth and final season on April 8 on Prime Video. Created by Eric Kripke, the Emmy-nominated series upends the superhero genre with dark satire and a gritty tone, and stars Antony Starr, Karl Urban, Jack Quaid and Jensen Ackles. After season four, Homelander has taken over America and the Boys are scattered, but the team will regroup for one last stand.

The show has been praised for its cinematography, visuals, soundtrack, performances and action sequences, while also drawing criticism for graphic violence; viewers should expect gore, hard-hitting deaths and a diabolical final ride. Kripke said, "I just hope they're satisfied.

I hope they end it, and they go, 'Fuck yeah, man. That was how that should have ended. I feel good about that.' We always say you want to send them out into the parking lot psyched, using a movie metaphor.
