It’s 1932, strange cult activity and ancient gods are whispered about, and Detective Jack Foster finds a decapitated corpse in a locked room. José María Meléndez, working as Postmodern Adventures, has released a third point-and-click after 2022’s Nightmare Frames and 2024’s An English Haunting, continuing his interest in past horror traditions.

The game takes place in Lovecraft’s Arkham, Massachusetts, amid a string of gruesome murders and the disappearance of newborn babies. Foster, recently returned to the police department after a troubling breakdown, is paired with former psychologist and cult expert Harvey Whitman to investigate what looks like a ritualistic killing: a headless man lying in the center of a large glyph, a burn mark running up a wall, and a singed, severed forearm.

The investigation quickly links to the Salem witch trials and cults intent on raising ancient gods, and the gameplay offers many locations to visit, items to inspect, and inventory puzzles to solve.
