The Furious to Close Boston Underground Film Festival
The Furious will close the Boston Underground Film Festival, which runs from Wednesday, March 18, to Sunday, March 22, 2026. The program promises horror, fantasy, sci‑fi and idiosyncratic indies, with Ben Wheatley and Bob Odenkirk’s action crime thriller Normal set to open the fest.
Directed by action choreographer‑turned‑filmmaker Tanigaki Kenji, The Furious assembles a cast that includes Miao Xie, Joe Taslim, Jeeja Yanin, Yang Enyu, Brian Le, Joey Iwanaga and Yayan Ruhian. The official synopsis follows tradesman Wang Wei (Xie), whose daughter Rainy (Yang) is abducted; his only ally is Navin (Taslim), a relentless journalist, and together they fight through an international criminal network to save Rainy and uncover the truth.
Lionsgate picked up the film and plans to release it in 2026, though a wider date has not been announced.
