The Last Caretaker update adds jet ski and boat customisation
Channel 37, the Finnish developer cofounded by the creators of the Trials series, has continued to support its oddball seafaring survival sim since it entered Steam early access last year. In the game you play as a robot tasked with saving the human race by artificially growing people and launching them into space.
Its second major patch adds a new vehicle, the CS-17 Courier Skimmer, a jet ski that offers faster travel than your main boat, which also serves as your base. Other additions include a sonar module to scan beneath the ocean for resources, boat customisation with 37 paint styles, in‑game buttons that can be triggered by physical impacts, and a "mystery phone" with a mystery caller.
The update also brings a wide array of bugfixes and "major performance optimisations across core systems, physics, buoyancy, UI and more." The latter responds to frequent Steam review complaints about the game's hefty performance requirements.
