'The Last of Us' Season 3 Adds Patrick Wilson and Jason Ritter
Patrick Wilson and Jason Ritter have joined the cast of The Last of Us for Season 3. Wilson will play Dr. Jerry Anderson, the father of Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), while Ritter is set to appear as Henley, a soldier in the WLF militia. Filming began in Vancouver earlier this month and the season is slated to premiere sometime in 2027.
Jerry’s fate is central to Abby’s story: Joel kills Jerry while the doctor is trying to develop a vaccine using Ellie, and that murder drives Abby’s quest for revenge, which culminates in her killing Joel in Season 2’s second episode. With Season 3 told from Abby’s perspective, viewers can expect many flashbacks showing Jerry as a devoted father and accomplished surgeon.
Wilson, 52, is known for roles in The Conjuring and Insidious franchises and for several appearances in DC projects, including Ocean Master in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, as well as parts in Watchmen and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Ritter, 46, currently appears in the gender-swapped Matlock revival starring Kathy Bates.
