'The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum' Adds Kate Winslet in Lead Role

Kate Winslet has been cast as the female lead in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, a spin-off that follows Aragorn on a quest to track down the titular creature. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on Dec. 17, 2027.

It is unclear who Winslet will play, but she joins a cast that includes director Andy Serkis as Gollum, Ian McKellen as Gandalf and Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins.
