The Lost Boys on Broadway star talks soaring stunt work
Rehearsals for the Broadway adaptation of "The Lost Boys" have begun at the Palace Theatre, with cast members flying through the air. Leading man Ali Louis Bourzgui, who plays head vampire David (the film role played by Kiefer Sutherland), says they have been working on their sky-high moves for six months.
"Our brilliant trainers at Fifth Wall Studio have taught us how to use our bodies in the air, as well as how to still keep technique while singing," Bourzgui said. "I definitely used to be someone who was scared of heights, but this process has practically forced it out of me." He added, "Sometimes I’ll be flying in from the ceiling and think 'Oh.
Maybe I should be nervous right now.' It’s interesting how you can train your nervous system over time just as much as you can train your muscles." Along with mastering the show’s choreography, Bourzgui said safety has been the production’s top priority while the cast learns to embrace their aerial work.
