The Most Bingeable Anime of All Time Is Now Streaming for Free 14 Years Later
Fourteen years after its web debut, RWBY's Volume 1 is now available to stream free on Pluto TV, with the remaining volumes rolling out across the week. Pluto is also running an all-day RWBY marathon on 2/21 and 2/22 to create a programmed window for catch-up viewing.
The series built its fandom through online discovery—clips, edits and standout character moments—so removing paywalls turns awareness into immediate viewing. The franchise’s official channel on X shared a looping GIF of the four core heroines—Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang—each shown with their signature color and emblem, a quick reminder of the show’s style-forward action and tight team dynamics.
RWBY launched in 2012 under Monty Oum and grew from short, web-first episodes into a long-running franchise organized by Volumes. After Oum’s death on February 1, 2015 the production team continued, and the main series reached nine volumes and 117 episodes as of March 2024.
