The Night Agent Season 3: Peter's deal with Jacob and Rose's exit
The Night Agent returns for Season 3 on Feb. 19, 2026, when Netflix will drop all 10 episodes at once. Season 2 leaves Peter Sutherland in a precarious position that sets up the new season's central conflicts. Season 2 ends with Peter and Rose agreeing they can't be together; the show confirms Luciane Buchanan is not returning for Season 3.
The split is presented as a safety-driven choice rather than a lack of feeling, and it’s unclear whether they will stay in contact or ever reunite. Peter becomes entangled with a powerful intelligence broker, Jacob Monroe (Louis Herthum). While working in Bangkok he learns Jacob bought intelligence about the Foxglove program from Warren and, despite orders not to, releases Jacob's henchman Solomon so he can meet Jacob.
Jacob agrees to reveal where a lab is and where Rose is held only if Peter steals a case file from the UN Secretary-General's office, then gives Peter a phone and demands he answer whenever Jacob calls. After the immediate threat ends and Rose is safe, Peter is arrested for stealing the files and aiding a criminal.
Catherine (Amanda Warren) follows procedure but ultimately releases him on the condition he work as a double agent: he must tell her team when Jacob's call comes and follow their guidance. Peter agrees and is left waiting for Jacob's call as a Night Action agent again. The stolen UN file is used to force a political outcome: it shows former CIA director Patrick Knox provided a blister agent, KX, to Victor Bala.
