FlixPatrol shows The Quiet Man witnessed a surge in viewership this week on the domestic iTunes chart, presumably because of St. Patrick's Day. The Irish cult classic Waking Ned Devine followed close behind. Wild Mountain Thyme, starring Emily Blunt and directed by John Patrick Shanley, was released day-and-date in theaters and on the PVOD market in 2020.

Set in Ireland, it follows a pair of childhood friends who grow close while their families scheme over a plot of farmland and was widely ridiculed upon release for a climactic twist unlike anything viewers had seen. The film was based on Shanley's own play, but had several similarities to the largely forgotten John Wayne vehicle The Quiet Man: both feature a mismatched couple, revolve around a fight over farmland, and build towards a ridiculous third act.
