The Revenant Lands on Hulu March 1

The Revenant, the brutal survival Western that co-starred Tom Hardy, arrives on Hulu on March 1. The film runs 157 minutes and dramatizes the true story of frontiersman Hugh Glass, who in the 1820s is mauled by a bear, left for dead and fights to survive. Hardy earned an Oscar nomination for his performance, and the film itself collected 12 Academy Award nods.

It was notable for finally winning Leonardo DiCaprio an Academy Award after five prior nominations, earned Alejandro G. Iñárritu a second Best Director prize, and gave Emmanuel Lubezki his third consecutive Oscar for cinematography. Production proved famously arduous: shooting in harsh conditions strained relations among cast and crew and helped push the budget from an initial $60 million up to $135 million.

Despite those challenges, the movie went on to gross $533 million worldwide.
