Netflix thriller The Rip tops global streaming charts three days after release
Movieweb reports that Netflix's new action thriller The Rip has become a global streaming sensation, reaching the number one spot on the platform just three days (at the time of writing) after it was released and topping the streamer’s weekly chart. The film was directed by Joe Carnahan, who co-wrote the script with Michael McGrale, and features Ben Affleck and Matt Damon alongside Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Sasha Cale, Kyle Chandler, Scott Adkins, and Nestor Carbonell.
Damon and Affleck play two Miami cops who, with several partners, find a huge stash of criminal cash and must confront who can be trusted. The official synopsis reads: "Upon discovering millions in cash in a derelict stash house, trust among a team of Miami cops begins to fray. As outside forces learn about the size of the seizure, everything is called into question — including who they can rely on." The Rip has also earned strong reviews, holding an 84% Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 70% audience rating, with viewers praising the chemistry between Affleck and Damon.
