The sultriest Oscars dresses of all time

Celebrities often save their most glamorous gowns for the Oscars, which mark the grand finale of awards season. The red carpet has also delivered plenty of plunging necklines, hip-high slits and scandalous see-through numbers over the years. Below are some of the sultriest Academy Awards looks of all time.

Halle Berry's 2025 Christian Siriano gown, inspired by shattered mirrors and featuring sheer mesh side panels, was a knockout. Issa Rae turned heads in a 2024 green velvet Ami Paris dress with a deeply plunging neckline and dangerously high slit, while Rihanna's 2023 semi-sheer Alaïa layered a bump-framing leather band dress over a bodysuit in true belly-baring fashion.

In 2022 Halle and Chloe Bailey coordinated high-slit gowns — Halle in cutout turquoise Roberto Cavalli and Chloe in purple LVDF — and Andra Day shimmered in a gold cutout chainmail Vera Wang in 2021.
