'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie' Casts Donald Glover as Yoshi
The final trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, released during the March 2025 Nintendo Direct stream, confirms Donald Glover as the voice of Yoshi. The green bipedal dinosaur was first teased in the original movie’s post-credits sequence, and this sequel reunites Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy and Jack Black while expanding the cast.
Glover’s resume includes roles in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Mufasa: The Lion King, Atlanta, Solo: A Star Wars Story and Spider-Man: Homecoming, along with several voice credits. He voiced adult Simba in Disney’s 2019 live-action The Lion King and its 2024 prequel Mufasa: The Lion King, and has voiced characters such as Marshall Lee in Adventure Time and Fiona & Cake, plus Miles Morales/Spider-Man in Disney’s Ultimate Spider-Man show.
Universal kept Chris Pratt’s Mario performance under wraps until the first film’s release, and the studio appears likely to take a similar approach with Glover.
