Few horror films have been as visceral as the 1974 classic that shocked the world, and Hollywood remade it in 2003. The remake surprised many by connecting with audiences, and it is now available to stream for free on Tubi. Directed by Marcus Nispel and produced in part by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes, the 2003 version largely follows the original plot: a group of young adults traveling through rural Texas stumble upon an isolated home inhabited by a family of deranged killers.

Andrew Bryniarski’s Leatherface is physically massive and more aggressive than Gunnar Hansen’s 1974 portrayal, while Jessica Biel’s Erin Hardesty is often cited as one of the finest "final girl" performances of the 2000s. The cast also includes Eric Balfour, Jonathan Tucker, Erica Leerhsen, Mike Vogel and R.

Lee Ermey. The remake took in more than $100 million at the box office against a $9.5 million budget but earned just a 37% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
