Social media personality The United Strand, whose real name is Frank Ilett, has confirmed he will record himself watching Manchester United’s game against West Ham on Tuesday. He has not cut his hair in almost 500 days after vowing not to until the club win five consecutive competitive matches — a feat that could be achieved against the Hammers.

United collected their fourth win in a row on Saturday, beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Old Trafford. Bryan Mbeumo swept in the opening goal after a corner and Bruno Fernandes added a second, having already helped the team to earlier victories against Manchester City, Arsenal (3-2 thanks to a late Matheus Cunha strike) and Fulham, where Benjamin Sesko’s 94th-minute winner kept the run alive.

Ilett will watch Tuesday’s game with keen eyes: if United make it five wins from five he will finally be allowed to get his haircut, while a West Ham upset would mean he keeps waiting.
