The Wheel of Time to get animated show, animated film and PC/mobile game
Iwot Studios is developing multiple new Wheel of Time projects: a PC and mobile game, an animated feature film and an animated series. The company is working with Initiate Entertainment and Arcane producer Thomas Vu, and the projects draw from Robert Jordan's novels.
These efforts sit alongside an open-world action RPG already in development. Iwot appears to be planning several games with the aim of turning the property into a series on the scale of Assassin's Creed. Alexander and iwot CEO Rick Selvage spoke to IGN about the RPG; Alexander dismissed claims of a three-year development cycle and said iwot is "not going to be developing this game over 10 years for the first release.
That's not going to happen." Iwot has owned the licence since 2004 and the Amazon TV series was its most prominent release to date. The show drew criticism early on for taking liberties with the source material, and although seasons two and three recovered ground for some viewers, the series was not renewed for a fourth season.
