Movieweb reports Netflix has confirmed The Witcher will end with season 5, which has already been filmed and is intended as the series' final season. The season is said to draw on Andrzej Sapkowski’s later novels — Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow and Lady of the Lake — and aims to provide an endgame for Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer.

Major cast members expected to return include Liam Hemsworth as Geralt, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier, with supporting returns listed such as Mahesh Jadu, Eamon Farren, Laurence Fishburne, Anna Shaffer, Mimî M. Khayisa and Sharlto Copley; Philippa Eilhart and Francesca Findabair are expected though not yet officially confirmed.

Earlier seasons drew more than 15 million viewers, while season four was the least viewed so far at about 7.3 to 7.4 million. The Wild Hunt is reported to take center stage and Ciri’s role as the "Child of Surprise" will likely drive the central conflict, with the season expected to adopt a darker tone and include significant sacrifices even if the novels end on a bittersweet note.
