Max Dowman, 16, scored his first Premier League goal with a stoppage-time solo run that beat two Everton defenders and finished past Jordan Pickford to secure a 2–0 win. At 16 years and 73 days he became the youngest scorer in the division, surpassing James Vaughan.

Thierry Henry, appearing on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football, said 'I get goosebumps' and recalled his own first moments under expectation. He warned that, after witnessing Wayne Rooney's early rise, both club and country must protect the teenager and 'not go too far too early with what he can achieve.'

Mikel Arteta described Dowman as a game-changer, praising his composure and the way he makes things happen. The manager noted Dowman's role in the opening goal and his strike later in the game, which left Arsenal nine points clear at the top after Manchester City's draw.
