Thomas Frank has painted a bleak picture of Tottenham's season, saying the club is in a 'desperate' fight to save it. Spurs have failed to record a Premier League win in 2026 across seven matches, slipped to 15th and sit six points above the relegation zone after a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Frank repeatedly used the word "desperate" but stressed the immediate focus is Tuesday's visit of Newcastle, calling it a "great opportunity" and saying the priority is to go out and get three points. He added that when a team hasn't won enough, players must do "a little bit more" and work harder, and said he was frustrated not to get anything from the United game.

The medical update deepened the gloom. Frank confirmed left-back Destiny Udogie has a hamstring injury and will be out for four to five weeks, joining a treatment room that already includes James Maddison, Pedro Porro, Richarlison and Ben Davies. He said Dejan Kulusevski faces further assessment at the end of the week and noted he is not in the Champions League squad.
