People reports three people were arrested after 29 dogs were found deceased in plastic bags in the backyard of a home in the Beauregard community of Lee County, Alabama.

Authorities also discovered approximately another 24 dogs inside the residence in emaciated condition; the dogs' ages ranged from puppies to grown dogs. The three occupants — Curtis Dewayne Haralson, Patricia Ann Sims and Tiffany Ann Sims, ages 63, 64 and 27 — were living at the home on the 8100 block of Lee Road 146, and a neighbor called authorities at around 10:45 a.m. on Monday to alert them to the dogs' condition. Lee County Animal Control took the surviving dogs into custody, according to AL.com.

The sheriff's office said the three were arrested and booked into Lee County Jail on Monday, Jan. 12. No charges have been filed and the investigation remains ongoing, though the sheriff's office said it 'will more than likely result in felony charges for all three individuals.'
