Three people found shot in Lakewood home; 19-year-old survives, People reports

Three people believed to be family members were found shot dead inside a Lakewood, California, home and a fourth, a 19-year-old woman who was shot at but uninjured, survived, People reports. Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies from Lakewood Station responded at approximately 8 a.m.

on Thursday, Jan. 15, to an assault with a deadly weapon call, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Lt. Daniel Vizcarra said at a press conference. Local outlets reported the victims as 52-year-old Hector Lionel Alfaro, his 48-year-old wife and the couple’s 17-year-old daughter. Vizcarra said the 19-year-old ran out of the house “extremely distraught,” and deputies found two females and a male suffering gunshot wounds to their upper torsos; those three were pronounced dead at the scene.

A gun was recovered inside the home. Authorities said a 911 caller told investigators she was awakened by gunshots before her father appeared near her and fired several shots at her; she was not struck and the father then shot himself, the sheriff’s department said.
